It was built in 1977 and renovated recently to give modern amenities, two swimming pools and a conferences room. The hotel is now privately owned by the former general manager.
The hotel is in the village of Rates which has a splendid eleventh century Romanesque church, built in granite by the Benedictines for Henry, Count of Burgundy, and dedicated to Sao Pedro. The closest town is Povoa de Varzim which is about seven kilometers away which has a casino whith shows, exhibitions and a restaurant. The coastal road has many restaurants specialising in the local fish dishes particularly near the beach at Apulia. Hotel Estalagem Sao Felix has a total of 32 twin bedrooms all with private bathroom, air conditioning, TV, direct dial telephone and safe.
The hotel restaurant specializes in serving a wide variety of local dishes. If the weather is suitable, snacks and drinks are served on the terrace which offers uninterrupted views to the sea. There are two outdoor swimming pools - one for adults and another for children, a children's playground and a games room with a pool table. The public areas are comfortably furnished to give an elegant and calm atmosphere.
Hotel Sao Felix Parque also has conference facilities including an Auditorium for up to 250 people with audio-visual equipment. For golfing parties there are courses at Quinta da Barca, Estela and Ponte de Lima all within easy reach by car. Oporto airport is about 30 kms away while the old sailing city of Viana do Castelo is approximately 35 kms to the north. Sao Felix Parque has free parking. |
