ACCOMMODATION IN THE ALENTEJO, PORTUGAL.The Alentejo region of Portugal has large farms in rolling countryside which stretch as far as the eye can see, and very little population. In summer the Alentejo climate is sunny and hot with very little rain. The towns and villages are often located on small hills which, in the past, were sometimes defended by a castle. The majority of the Hotels in the area are in these old castles and similar buildings which have been converted into exceptional accommodation by the Pousada Group. The important towns in the region are Evora, Elvas, Portalegre and Beja. The Region is easily reached by car from Lisbon or Faro airport. This page lists Manor Houses, Pousadas & Traditional Hotels, Villas and Modern Hotels & Apartments in the Alentejo region. Click for golf courses. |
