The Alentejo region has large farms in the rolling countryside and very little population,

The towns and villages are often on small hills and were often defended by a castle.

The majority of the hotels in the area are in these old buildings which have been converted into hotels by the Pousada Group

The important towns in the region are Evora, Elvas, Pontelegra and Beja.

The Region can be easily reached by car from Lisbon or Faro airports.
