The Hotel has great respect for the environment. A big part of the electricity is produced by photovoltaic solar energy, water and power usage is efficiently monitored, less damaging chemical products are used and the produced waste is reduced and adequately managed.

Quinta de Bispos is located on the south slope of the Caramulo mountains in central Portugal. It offers a great diversity of indoor and outdoor activities all year round, with views of the Besteiros valley and further away the Serra de Estrela, the highest mountains in continental Portugal.

The Caramulo mountains are very popular amongst walkers. There are 2 official 'walking paths' signalled by the local council.

The Dao region, which borders the Serra do Caramulo, is very prestigious in Portugal for its tasteful wines. There is an official wine route with all the wineries that can receive visitors.

Accommodation comprises 15 spacious bedrooms situated in three separate buildings and 12 apartments located in a fourth building. All bedrooms have ensuite bathroom and are equipped with double glazed windows, air-conditioning, satellite TV, internet connection, direct dial telephone and safe.

In the main building there are 7 standard rooms, 1 single room and 1 junior suite. Also in this building there is a restaurant which has a terrace with splendid views over the valley. It offers a combination of gourmet cuisine and regional dishes which are made with carefully selected ingredients, always with a preference for the use of certified biological products, and prepared with a high standard of quality. There is also a bar/lounge with fireplace where guests can relax before or after a meal. In addition, there are 2 computers, wireless internet access, pool table, piano and a small library.

In a separate building there are 4 more bedrooms, each with balcony and direct access from the outside.

3 further bedrooms are grouped together as a separate cottage which is ideal for a family of 6/8 people. It has a large air-conditioned living-room with fireplace, kitchenette with 4 electric rings, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster and there is also a patio. The master bedroom is suitable for disabled people. There is a private car park.

The apartments, 9 one bedroomed and 3 two bedroomed, are located in a two-storey former farm building which has been extensively modified in order to provide high standard accommodation, while retaining some of the original characteristics such as the traditional roof construction.

The one bedroom apartments have views over the Besteiros valley and the Serra da Estrela mountain. The two bedroom apartments have direct access to a private garden with orange and lemon trees.

All apartments have a fully fitted kitchenette with 4 electric rings, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster.

There are 2 one bedroom apartments located on the ground floor which are suitable for disabled people, with an adapted bathroom and kitchenette. These apartments and 2 others have a terrace.

On the ground floor of this building there is also an indoor swimming-pool, Turkish bath, fitness and a conference room with natural lighting for up to 40 people and equipped with air-conditioning, video projector and flip chart.

Quinta de Bispos has a music recording studio that meets high standards of digital recording. It is located in a separate building which has an excellent sound isolation (double walls) and is equipped with a Pro Tools HD2 system.

Further facilities at the Hotel include outdoor swimming-pool, tennis/football court, car park and mountain bikes.

Quinta de Bispos has stables and pastures for horses, as well as a riding area. Riding lessons or guided tours are available, under request.

Other activities in the area include rafting, rock-climbing and canoeing.
