The Convent was built on the site where, according to the legend, Saint Francis stopped and rested on his way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

Throughout the centuries the Convent was home to women who devoted their life to religion.

In 1834 all the religious orders were abolished in Portugal and the Convent was purchased by an army officer who demolished all the constructions and built an opulent country house.

In the property there are now two main buildings, the Manor House and the converted farmhouse, which was adapted to receive guests, which is where all the services are located.

There are a total of 10, elegantly furnished twin bedrooms, all with private bathroom, television and air conditioning.

There is also a suite with a twin bedroom and a private lounge with an extra bed.

On the lower floor there is a spacious living room and a bar.

The breakfast room overlooks the swimming pool area and the property’s vineyards which produce a good quality wine.

Near the property’s main entrance there is a beautiful, well maintained garden, perfect for a quiet stroll.

From the terrace there are wonderful views to Ponte de Lima and over the vineyards belonging to the Quinta. The property is in fact dedicated to two main activities, tourism and agriculture.

Quinta Convento Val de Pereiras also has facilities to hold weddings and meetings.

Set in perfect harmony with nature, guests staying at the Quinta may use the swimming pool and tennis court.

Swimming pool’s dimensions are 16 by 8 meters with a depth varying from 1,80 to 1,20 meters.

At breakfast you may care to try some of the Quinta’s home made jams. Meals are also available upon request.
