MANOR HOUSES
These are often the private homes of the owners who, together with their domestic staff, aim to provide guests with an enjoyable stay. They not have a reception desk or reservation staff. 

Please treat them as your hosts and with the dignity they deserve. The prime objective of most owners is to provide hospitality and a warm welcome so that others experience the pleasure of staying at these magnificent homes rather than financial reward. 

In most cases the owner will try to greet you personally.  Please fax your estimated time of arrival and if delayed, advise him / her by telephone. 

Time of Arrival        -   Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. unless special arrangements are agreed with owners in advance. 

Time of Departure   -   Before 10 a.m. 

MANOR HOUSE HOTELS 
This heading lists the few Manor Houses which also have restaurants on the estate. 

Again, they are private houses and do not offer the full services of an hotel, you will be treated as a paying guest of the house. These houses have a 2 night minimum. 

TRADITIONAL HOTELS 
Formerly grand private houses and Palaces these hotels offer outstanding accommodation where you can expect hotel services and facilities in accordance with their 'star' rating. 

MODERN HOTELS 
In some cities we have included modern hotels because the traditional hotels are not able to meet the demand.  Again, the services and facilities are in accordance with their 'star' rating. 

POUSADAS 
These are government owned hotels who aim is to preserve historic buildings of national importance by their use as hotels.  They also have modern purpose built hotels in rural areas to encourage tourism in areas of outstanding beauty. 

This is high quality accommodation with the full facilities of a small hotel. 

The Pousadas are found throughout mainland Portugal and its islands and Brazil.  They are not in main cities. 

SELF CATERING ACCOMMODATION 
We list self catering accommodation in estate cottages with the swimming pool shared with other guests in similar accommodation.  The details are the same as those of the Manor Houses. 

TRADING POLICY 
All contracts are between you, the guest, and the accommodation provider. 

We remove any property who offers lower rates than those displayed on our site. 

We also remove properties if the standard of the accommodation has declined or, if the administration process does not meet adequate standards. 

We encourage visitors to contact us after their visit with their comments. 

We provide prices as a service and believe them to be reasonably accurate but take no responsibility or, accept liability, if incorrect. 

RESERVATIONS 
Contact should be made through Manor Houses of Portugal who promote the accommodation on behalf of the accommodation provider. 

Instructions should be in writing, preferably by email (there is a link on every accommodation page).

We do not accept money from guests, in all cases payment is made direct, by the guest, to the accommodation provider. 

Reservations are confirmed by the accommodation provider. 

FOR YOUR INFORMATION 
Manor Houses of Portugal has published the information on these pages in good faith, believing it to be correct. This information is not part of any contract entered into by you with the accommodation provider. 

Manor Houses of Portugal reserve the right to alter the rates and details of the accommodation  promoted on the site without prior notice. 

Manor Houses of Portugal act as a promotion company on behalf of the owners / accommodation providers listed.  The owners of the accommodation operate separate businesses and any contract is between that business and you, the guest. 

Every effort is made to provide accurate information and prices but we accept it is impossible to be 100% correct all the time.  We have taken the view that it is better for readers of these pages to see prices even though they may be incorrect. 

We ask for the co-operation of our readers to inform us if any amendments are required to the site. 

CANCELLATION POLICY
Each accommodation provider has their own cancellation policy and we are always pleased to provide details, if required. 

Where you are reserving a room in a large hotel the cancellation period is short, where you are reserving a large proportion of the accommodation offered, the period will be longer.  Those reserving the whole property exclusively have the longest cancellation period as the owner has to replace the whole of his income. 

In all cases any cancellation charge is made by the accommodation provider. 

CLAIMS AND DISPUTES 
Any problems should be settled, if possible, during the stay. If satisfactory agreement cannot be reached we are always available to assist.  If the dispute is not resolved by the time of departure, a formal complaint should be written in the book, which the law requires, should be available to you. 

Any dispute which is only brought to our attention after departure will not be considered for assistance unless an official complaint was recorded at the time. 

We always advise guests to take out travel insurance.  This is not a service we provide. 

Our aim is to provide a service to the owners of the accommodation promoted on the site. It is hoped that it is also of service to those wishing to visit Portugal. 

We do not accept liability in respect of any incorrect information appearing on the site or any advice given by this company or its employees.  Nor do we accept liability for any problems arising in the contract between the accommodation provider and the guest. 

Notwithstanding the above, Manor Houses of Portugal will endeavor to assist both our clients and the guest in every way possible.
