Douro river cruise from Regua to Pocinho, return by train

Regua is the most important town on the river Douro and capital of the port wine area. From here the river Regua Pocinho - Douro river Cruise

passes through the demarcated port wine region of steeply terraced hills dotted with the white painted Port wine quintas.

The boat passes Pinhao to which the Port Wine trade is slowly moving. Soon after Pinhao the schist soil ends marking the end of the demarkated Port Wine region and the scenery turns wilder.

At Pocinho there is a transfer to the train for the return journey and at Regua there is a wine tasting.

There are slight changes in the itinerary betweeen the cruise to barca D'Alva and Pocinho which should be studied carefully. Both take place on Sundays and are the same price.
