2 Day Douro cruise from Porto to Pocinho and Barca D'Alva

Leaving Porto, the boat passes under some of the famous high level bridges. The ubanisation of Porto is quickly left behind and the steep banks have villages and riverside homes.

Porto Barca D'Alva - Douro river Cruise

As the journey across Portugal takes place, the boat is raised by a series of locks, some being the highest in Europe.

Later the railway line runs alongsde the river for its journey upstream.

The river passes through the demarcated port wine region of steeply terraced hills and mountains and white painted quintas and past Regua and stopping overnight at Pinhao.

The journey upriver continues the next day through unspoilt countryside untl Pocinho where the journey downriver by train commences.
